MSA teachers are all about making the curriculum relevant and engaging for every learner. Here are some of the recent learning activities happening here at MSA:
-Ancient World History: Students assumed roles and conducted the trial of Socrates. What do you think, was he guilty?
-6th Grade Study Skills: Students completed a project on how they would spend 1 million dollars, and then was assessed by a peer. A McLaren 570S is a fine choice.
-Art: Students recreated scenes from their favorite childhood story using paper mache.
- Spanish 4: Students enjoyed a guest speaker who visited us all the way from Argentina.

If you haven't heard, we're expanding. MSA is so appreciative of our current students, families, and staff. We are also thankful for the partnerships we have with the City of Woodbury, ISD 833, and the future MSA elementary parents.

Congrats to Zohha Khan (Senior) as she did a wonderful job representing MSA and Minnesota youths at the Minnesota State Capitol. She was one of the keynote speakers at the 2025 State of the Youth Press Conference, which acts as the voice for the youth of Minnesota. Check out the link below.

MSA Closes Achievement Gap
Math and Science Academy accepts students of all ability levels by lottery each spring. MSA students, families, and staff work together to close the achievement gaps. By the time students graduate, virtually all gaps are eliminated.
MSA has adopted a Multi-Tiered System of Support to address the needs of each student. The implementation of a semester of research-based reading instruction has closed the achievement gap in grade 6. We are piloting a similar program for students struggling with math this spring.

The Elementary Open House was an incredible success, buzzing with energy from over 200 guests. Proposed future elementary MSA students and parents packed the Great Hall and Building A to hear from Dr. Hinton, the MSA PTO, and current MSA students. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event a success!
Our MSA FLL teams had an amazing weekend at the FLL Regional competition in Woodbury! All three teams—Bobots, Krakens, and Brobots—did an outstanding job representing MSA. Congratulations to the MSA FTC Teams "Ouroboros" and "Cybermachina" on their success at this past weekends Prior Lake qualifying competition. Ouroboros placed 3rd overall and received the Innovate Award for their industrial robot design. Cybermachina took 1st place overall, won the Think Award, and went undefeated in competition which qualified for them for the STATE competition in February! Way to go FTC!
MSA was just recognized by the U.S. Department of State as a Medallion School! MSA is proud to host International Exchange students, allowing students to explore each other's cultures and preparing our students to participate on a global stage.

Check out the teaching and learning that has occurred recently in the classroom... Our 9th graders conducted an in-depth conversation about Vonnegut's short story "Harrison Bergeron," 10th/11th graders investigated the relationship between temperature and pressure in AP Chemistry, 8th graders built electrical circuits in Science, and high schoolers presented on how financial legislations have affected US citizens in Personal Finance...
Over 70 of our 6th graders were able to experience Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center this week.

Students at MSA aren't just "sitting and getting." Teachers develop meaningful and engaging lessons that challenges our students to collaborate and think critically. Check out these students in action as they learn about the corpus callosum and how it connects the two brain hemispheres in AP Psychology, how to perform CPR in Health, and gathering and analyzing data in Integrated 3 math.
MSA’s annual Homecoming Pep Fest was a great success with our Debate Team, Theater, Soccer, Cross Country, Girls Volleyball, FTC, FRC, and of course Rhapsody the robot representing MSA this season! Thank you Student Council for putting on a fantastic assembly for our Dragons!
