Based on feedback from potential vendors at our RFP pre-proposal meeting, we have issued an addendum and updated the attached RFP to specify that cost proposals should include the use of compostable trays for meals. This update was approved by MDE on 12/01/2025. 

November 2025

Math and Science Academy (SFA) will be accepting proposals for the management of the school food service operation for the forthcoming school year.  
 The contracting process is strictly controlled by U.S. Department of Agriculture procurement regulations and any applicable Minnesota laws.  Please clear all contact with any district personnel, vendors, contractors, or board members with me.  Any attempt to unduly influence district staff, administrators, vendors, contractors, or board members will automatically disqualify your Vendor.

Letter to Food Service Management Companies

Dear Vendors,

Thank you for your continued partnership and for your participation in Math and Science Academy's current RFP process. After further review of our operational needs, we are requesting an amendment to the current RFP.

If you are able to, please submit proposals that include two fixed meal cost options:

  1. Fixed Meal Cost Without Labor

    • This option should follow the same structure and criteria outlined in our current RFP.

  2. Fixed Meal Cost With Labor Included

    • Please include staffing costs within the fixed meal price.

    • Estimated staffing needs are as follows:

      • Secondary School Site, 9025 Bailey Road: approximately 30 labor hours per day

      • Elementary School Site, 8430 Woodbury Crossing: approximately 16 labor hours per day.

In addition, please provide a brief explanation of how your company would adjust staffing levels based on participation, both in the case of increased meal counts and decreased participation.  This will aid Math and Science Academy in understanding your approach to scalability.

This amendment allows our team to compare both models and determine which best supports program reliability, staffing challenges, and overall operational sustainability.

Math and Science Academy  (SFA) will be accepting proposals for the management of the school food service operation for the forthcoming school year. An optional pre-proposal meeting is scheduled for November 24th, 2025 at 11:00am at 8490 Woodbury Crossing, Woodbury, MN, 55125. Please respond in writing to indicate whether you will or will not be attending this meeting.

Preferred deliverables of the proposals are emailed to Shauni Holt at sholt@mnmsa.org.
