How can I ensure my child has what they need to start e-learning when distance learning begins?

What are the class meet days of the week?
  • Monday – Day 1
  • Tuesday – Day 2
  • Wednesday – Day 3
  • Thursday – Day 4
  • Friday – Day 5
Where can I find my class schedule?

Log in to the Skyward Family Access portal.  Click on the left tab, schedule.  Go to Display Options, click on Current Year, and choose Weekday by Term. The days of the week will be highlighted in yellow.

It looks like Advisory meets every day, but that's just the check-in. Is that correct?

Yes. This is for attendance only and the student must check in with their advisory teacher every day by 1:00 p.m.  If they do not check-in, they will be counted as absent.

What if my child is ill?

Call the attendance line at 651-578-8061 to report the illness.  Your child will be marked excused and ill for the day.

Do students meet online for classes?

Students may meet online depending on each teacher’s Distance Learning plan.

How is attendance taken? Do students check in with their advisory teacher each day of the week school is in session?

Yes, they must check-in each day.  Advisory students will have their attendance taken through their advisory teacher by 1 pm, Monday through Friday. Advisory teachers will give students instructions on how to do so for their advisory.

Does each teacher have a Google Classroom web page?

Yes, or Schoology. (Two teaching platforms are Google Classroom and Schoology used at MSA.)

Will the assignments for the day be on the Google Classroom web page?

Yes, Google Classroom or Schoology.

When will students have communication for class assignments from their teachers?

Teachers will contact their students by 9:00 a.m. the day their classes meet.  For example, if a class meets on Tuesday, the student will receive communication from their teacher by 9:00 a.m. that morning.

Although the information states the schedules show "meeting dates," the classes are not meeting. The students are just doing the work for those classes on those days?

Yes, classes are asynchronous. Students cannot be required to meet at 10 a.m. (or anytime) for their class. They have 24 hours to complete assigned work.

What does the following statement mean? Instructional time – no more than 20 minutes per class meeting with no more than 60 minutes to complete the class meeting tasks and homework.

That the 'direct instruction' via recorded lesson, guided lesson, etc. will not be longer than 20 minutes.
