Running for MSA Board of Directors
All parents and guardians of enrolled MSA students are invited to run for one of the two parent/guardian seats in this year's BOD election. Each BOD seat requires a two year commitment. This is an excellent volunteer opportunity, and a great chance to show your children that their education is important to you.
Do I have the required skills and expertise?
Absolutely! The school hires qualified experts in school administration, education and employment law, accounting, and other technical matters. If you are a parent or guardian of an enrolled MSA student and are interested in ensuring MSA's continued success, you have exactly what we need.
How much time is required?
The board typically meets for 2 hours on the first Thursday of each month. There are also one hour workshops before some BOD meetings and you may serve as a BOD Liaison to a standing BOD committee.
What's involved in the campaign?
After you become a nominee, you are asked to submit a 2-3 paragraph candidate statement to the Election Committee. This statement will be posted on the MSA website during the election and your name will appear on the ballot. You will also be introduced at a Parent Team meeting, where you can make a short statement as well.
How do I get my name on the ballot?
It's easy! Express your interest in serving on the Board prior to the winter meetings by sending an email with your name, phone number and email address to Paul Simone at psimone@mnmsa.org.
